As I strolled down the frozen food aisle in search of my next muse, I couldn’t help but be drawn to the Mac & Cheese section. Yes, Trader Joe’s has about a dozen different Mac & Cheese options for your enjoyment: Diner style, Pepperoni Pizza Mac & Cheese, French Onion, and my new favorite, Reduced Guilt. I’m a sucker for good cheesy pasta, but I hate how many calories I consume when I eat a box of Kraft Mac & Cheese or a frozen alternative. Trader Joe’s has truly outdone themselves with this Reduced Guilt Mac & Cheese. Keep reading for the scoop!

So What is “Reduced Guilt”?
Let’s uncover Trader Joe’s sly slogan at the top of this one-of-a-kind box of frozen mac & cheese. Reduced Guilt is just another way to say “light” or “low-fat.” By consuming the whole container of this mac & cheese you will only have had 270 calories! No tricks here, one serving is the whole package, making you feel good about your lunch choice. I also wanted to address that the “Reduced Guilt” option may seem like the flavor would escape the dish; fear no more, as I reveal the tastiness of this mac & cheese!

Cheese, Cheese, & More Cheese
This frozen item does not lack any flavor! Unleash the cheese as you open up the warm delicacy of pasta from your microwave. After poking holes in the plastic wrapped meal, place the tray into the microwave for 3 ½ minutes, let sit for 1 minute, uncover and stir for optimal cheesy goodness! The macaroni noodles are soft in texture and extreme in stringy cheese flavor. Not only does this frozen dish have a creamy, salty cheese sauce, but there are also large chunks of cheddar intermixed with the noodles too. That’s a win, if you ask me!

The Results Are In!
As you can probably tell if you read my comments above, I think that for a low-calorie frozen food, Trader Joe’s killed their Reduced Guilt Mac & Cheese. I am giving this item 4 stars and think that you should always have one in your freezer to enjoy! Whether you’re trying to choose a healthy alternative option, or just love the taste of this mac & cheese, it’s guaranteed to mac’ you happy! Too cheesy, for ya?
